Discipline Hack: Parents, Grab the TV Remote & Read This! by Cheryl Butler

I came up with a fun way to correct my kids' bad behaviors, and I owe it all to the TV remote control. They love watching TV and DVDs, so they learned to operate the remote at a young age. One day, my 5-year-old son wouldn't stop throwing his football at the TV. I took the remote, pointed it at him and said, “Pause.” Surprised, he laughed and followed my instructions. I told him we were going to “Rewind” his actions and he couldn't throw the ball anymore. 

I ended up using this technique successfully with my kids often, and years later, all I have to do is pick up the remote and they pause!
