5 Ways to Help Your Child Transition Into a New School by Ann Marie G. Halstead

Will your child attend a new school this year? Here are five ways to help!

1. Take a tour of the school, see the classroom(s) and meet teacher(s). Help your child make friends by attending local events, enrolling her in a camp or art class, joining the public library and participating in their programs.
2. Highlight the school's unique offerings (our elementary school offers Chinese!).
3. Encourage school spirit. Buy a shirt or other item with the school name and/or mascot.
4. Listen to your child's concerns and offer support.

Before you know it, your child will love his or her new school!
