Don't get me wrong, I'm a big Amazon fan. Christmas would have been a flop more than once without two-day shipping and late night scroll binges that sent me down the rabbit hole of endless products and ideas.
So, why didn't I log in on Prime Day to score big deals? I made a conscious effort to not give into the urge to tap my app and mindlessly surf the sales. It's a matter of want vs. need. I don't need anything. I knew the temptation would only cloud my judgement and make me think I needed many things. My bank account is relieved.
I am trying to break the cycle of spontaneous buying. We're all guilty. But really, what are we doing with all of these things? My basement contains boxes with long-forgotten contents, my counter collects piles of mail, preschool artwork and to-do lists, my closets collect the overflow and the list goes on. Sound familiar?
I confess I haven't read "The Life-Changing Magic Of Tidying Up" yet, but the KonMari method has been on my mind and in my heart lately. Does the item bring you joy? If not, let it go. It's time to change the course and tackle the clutter, not add to it. Care to join me?
