The Goal Setting Pie: A Simple Way to Accomplish More in Life Motherhood

When my son was born, I knew I had to put more structure into my daily life to feel some sort of accomplishment at the end of my day. I was a career person who now stayed home with a new infant. I discovered the pie – a goal setting method I’ve continued throughout the years. My son is now 29, so it is a proven system!

Every three to six months I sit down with my circle divided into eight pieces – my pie. Each piece is a generic broad area of my life. I make five goals for each slice – two long term and three short term (ones I could start doing that day or next week). The pieces are:

After making my five goals in each area, I keep my paper and refer back to it until I feel I need to revise. I’ve kept all my goal sheets, and looking back, I find myself surprised and oftentimes laughing at goals I thought were so important. I wonder sometimes why something was even on my mind. I have noticed only one recurring goal – lose weight. I guess I haven’t reached that one yet. Someday...
