Looking for a way to beat the summer slide – or even get your child’s reading and memory skills caught up? Check out the following apps for kids in kindergarten through first grade!

  • Memory Train is a memory game, but can also be helpful for kids who have working memory and visual processing issues. How it works: kids get the view of a train passenger and have to remember the color, pattern and shape of objects as they pass by through the window. The game gets more difficult and speeds up.
  • Phonics Genius is a great, simple app for helping kids read particular word patterns. The user can pick the spelling pattern (example: words with short "a"), hear them read and record themselves reading the words.

Happy summer learning!
