Plastic, Paper & the Environment: My Thoughts on the Excessive Amount of Tags & Plastic on Clothing by Chainedfreespirit
Almost everyone at some point in time has to shop for clothes. Many of us have to go shopping for kids and know what happens next – we have to get equipped with scissors and a trash bag to wash the items. Why? Because it seems that the smaller the child, the more tags are on the clothing. In my opinion, this is getting a bit out of hand.
Here’s a photo of how many tags came with five outfits and two pairs of pants. I am not kidding. In the photo, I deliberately left the hangers (plastic) to show that it was exactly five outfits. Just a few outfits for my baby and a few pairs of pants for my toddler. This pile looks a whole lot scarier twice a year when we go shopping for all four kids in August and September for fall/winter and April and May for spring/summer.
The little plastic "staples" are a huge issue for me, too. If the little thing falls onto the floor, unless it is other than clear and I missed one, rest assured my crawler will find it and put it in her mouth. Sigh.
What I don't understand is why is it necessary to have this many tags? It is wasteful and can be unsafe.
