New Year's Eve Activities for Families: 3 Fun New Year’s Eve Traditions to Start This Year by Sammi

New Year’s Eve is my family’s favorite holiday, thanks to the traditions we’ve established: our memory jar, memory box and end-of-year interviews.
- For the interview, we decide on a set of questions about our favorite things, hobbies and aspirations for the new year. Then we interview each other using these questions. After that we watch our interview videos from previous years.
- We collect keepsakes throughout the year in our memory box. Rocks or shells from a trip, movie ticket stubs, wedding invitations, the kids’ drawings, articles of clothing, etc. On New Year's Eve, we go through the box to relive the year, then we seal it up and label it with a year 10 years in the future. We won’t open our first box until 2025, but opening old boxes will become a part of our New Year's Eve traditions as well.
- Our memory jar is a glass jar filled with slips of paper marked with a precious moment from our year. These are memories of taking cross-country road trips, losing a first tooth, making a new friend, playing a particularly fun game of UNO and more. They are extraordinary and everyday moments that defined the year for us.
New Year's resolutions are nice, but our goal is to make memories.
