Congressional Candidate Tedra Cobb on Why Women Should Get Involved in Politics by Tedra Cobb

Before becoming a Congressional candidate, I worked 30 years in local, regional and statewide government, health care, education and community service. I know that it is incredibly rewarding to be involved in political discourse and service. Why should you become involved in politics now?
Regardless of ideology, the world around us is changing. Women’s voices ensure that our interests are being accurately represented. We need to involve women who have a diverse range of experiences to represent people from all backgrounds.
Calling and writing your local and national representatives is crucial in politics and a viable first step to being involved. Other options include
- Attend a school board or local government meeting.
- Volunteer on a political campaign.
- Run for a school board, county or state legislature, or even for U.S. Congress.
- Another way to become involved is to make a donation to a political campaign. Small dollar donations make a difference, allowing constituents’ voices to be heard.
Politics is not just about representation, but our individual agency. We, as women, have the power to shape our country. If you are feeling motivated, now is the time to become involved.
