Start "Back to School" Now! How? Try a Kid-Created To-Do List!

Getting kids “ready” for school is a process. Helping kids to return to the structure of school is more successful when students have the time and opportunity to practice the skills that will lead to positive school performance. Organizational skills are those behaviors that support student learning, but are not always taught directly to students. It's a good idea to make sure your child knows how to make a daily to-do list to prioritize tasks and manage time. A “to-do” list can be as simple as:

  • Make my bed
  • Walk the dog
  • Put away my things before dinner
  • Put my clothes away before bed

Helping kids to create their own routines at home will lead to personal organizational skills that will lead to school success.
