Home Organizing & Decluttering: How Parents Can Get Their Kids to Help!

We moms often make things more difficult for ourselves by carrying the bulk of the household organizing and decluttering. Here are some tips to help get your kids to help:

  • Set a time to declutter daily. Keep it simple, no more than 30 minutes a day. Set a timer and stick to it so it becomes a habit.
  • No TV with kid clutter around. Make a hard-and-fast rule that absolutely no TV, Internet or video game is allowed until all clutter is put away.
  • Set the rule that when you are finished using something, you don’t put it down, you put it away. Everything has a home, so everyone must always return objects to where they belong.

If you instill only these few habits in your kids, you have provided them with great tools to use in the battle against clutter and gotten help for yourself.
