Sunburn may seem a typical part of childhood, but it can cause lasting damage. Just one sunburn in childhood or adolescence doubles your chances of getting skin cancer as an adult.
- Apply sunscreen before heading outside and reapply every hour or so depending on activity level.
- Ase sunscreen that is SPF 30 or greater.
- Be generous with the amount you use. Don't skimp on sunscreen!
- Spray or a lotion is fine. Make sure to apply to forgotten areas like ears, back of neck and tops of feet!
Get outside and enjoy the sun – just do it safely!
