You’ll be amazed how many raves you’ll get with this hearty, amazing, quick and easy Italian spaghetti meat sauce recipe.
To make this easy high-protein tomato sauce recipe with meat for spaghetti you will need just six simple ingredients. Here is what to gather from your fridge and pantry: ground meat (beef, turkey or chicken), Italian sausage, an onion, canned chopped tomatoes (read about the health benefits of tomatoes), tomato paste (check out the health benefits of tomato paste) and spaghetti seasoning (a packet or make my homemade spaghetti seasoning blend recipe).
Ladle the spaghetti sauce over your favorite pasta for dinner or use it in recipes calling for a meat sauce (think lasagna or Italian casseroles). Once you make your own homemade meat sauce, you won't go back to jarred sauce!

Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef, ground turkey or ground chicken
- 1 pound Italian sausage (mild or spicy)
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 15 - 30 ounces (1 - 2 cans) chopped tomatoes
- 1 tablespoon tomato paste
- 1.37 ounces (1 packet) spaghetti seasoning (or 6 tablespoons homemade spaghetti seasoning)

Here's how to make it:
- Place ground meat and sausage in a large saucepan or soup pot on medium heat. Cook for 5 minutes breaking up the meat.
- Add the onion and cook until meat is browned and onion is soft.
- Add spaghetti spices and stir well.
- Add the tomato paste and stir, then the can of tomatoes with all their juices. If the sauce seems too dry add the other can of chopped tomatoes and juice and/or a bit of water.
- Simmer the sauce for 20 minutes on low. Taste to see if more salt or pepper is needed.
- If you are planning on serving the sauce over pasta, boil your water and cook pasta to al dente according to package directions. Serve the sauce over pasta with a simple vegetable side and crusty bread, if desired. Enjoy!
