My obsession with the air fryer continues. (Not to mention my love of chicken thighs.) This easy air fryer recipe is my latest success with the kitchen appliance. This air fryer hot honey chicken thighs recipe is quick and easy to prep, the chicken is crispy and juicy, and the high-protein dinner is on the table in 30 minutes.

This easy chicken recipe requires minimal ingredients you probably already have in your fridge and pantry. Here is your short gluten-free shopping list for this chicken thighs recipe: bone-in/skin-on chicken thighs, olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, black pepper, salt, honey (check out the health benefits of honey), butter, hot sauce (think Louisiana Hot Sauce, Tabasco Sauce, Cholula, Frank's RedHot or your personal favorite) and apple cider vinegar.

The chicken is seasoned with the dry spices then cooked in the air fryer until cooked through, golden and crispy. While the chicken cooks, the hot honey sauce is melted together on the stovetop. Some of the sauce is used to glaze the chicken and the remaining drizzled on before serving (you'll even have enough to serve on the side, if desired).

This high-protein recipe (check out the health benefits of protein) is delicious served for dinner with your favorite side dishes. I served mine with fresh broccoli and a garden salad drizzled with homemade salad dressing.

Ingredients

• 4 chicken thighs, bone-in and skin-on
• 1 teaspoon olive oil
• 1 teaspoon garlic powder
• 1 teaspoon onion powder
• 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
• 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Honey Honey Sauce

• 1/3 cup honey
• 2 tablespoons butter
• 2 - 3 tablespoons hot sauce
• 2 teaspoons apple cider vinegar

Here's how to make it:

1. Combine the garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika and black pepper in a small bowl. Stir to combine.
2. Rub the olive oil all over the chicken pieces. Season the chicken to taste with salt. Sprinkle with the seasoning blend on both sides. (I used all of the seasoning.) Put the chicken into the air fryer in a single layer. (I like to use an air fryer liner for easy cleanup.)
3. Air fry at 375 degrees F for 20 to 25 minutes, or until chicken is cooked through. (Chicken is cooked through at 165 degrees F internal temperature on a food thermometer, however, chicken thighs are more tender at 180 degrees F.)
4. While the chicken cooks, put the sauce ingredients into a small saucepot.
5. Bring to a boil and stir until combined. Turn off the heat and set aside.
6. Brush the chicken with the sauce during the last 2 minutes of cooking time. (You will not use all of the sauce.)
7. Put the chicken onto a serving plate and drizzle with some of the remaining sauce. Serve any remaining sauce on the side, if desired. Store any leftover chicken in an airtight container in the fridge.
