Buttery Green Beans Recipe With Almonds (3 Ingredient, 10 Minutes) Vegetables Gluten-free Side Dishes Budget Recipes Vegetarian Farm to Table Recipe Low Sodium Recipes
Do you ever find yourself in the produce department looking for a new vegetable to cook? If you're getting bored with the same ol' vegetables dinner after dinner, try cooking them in a new way! This three-ingredient green bean recipe is the perfect example. Just by adding one different ingredient – almonds – the whole side dish is transformed into something different and a little special.
This quick and easy buttery green beans recipe takes no time to make, but elevates the humble green bean. All you need to make this vegetable side dish is fresh green beans, butter and almonds. Season with some salt and black pepper and you're good to go. The cooking time will depend on how crisp you like your green beans. Not only is this green bean recipe tasty, quick and easy, but you also get the health benefits of green beans!
The simple green beans are delicious served with chicken, pork, beef, lamb, seafood and, in my case, chicken-fried venison steaks. If you have leftovers, chop them up and toss them into grain bowl or salad.

Cook Time: 5 to 10 minutes
Total Time: 10 to 15 minutes
Servings: 3
Ingredients
- 1/2 pound green beans, trimmed
- 1 - 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 - 2 tablespoons sliced almonds
Recipe Notes
- You could use slivered almonds instead of sliced. If you don't like almonds, try pecans or walnuts.
- This recipe can easily be doubled using 1 pound of green beans, 2 to 3 tablespoons of butter and 3 to 4 tablespoons of almonds.
- Don't add too much water to the skillet. You want it to cook out and evaporate when the beans are done cooking.
- If you don't like cooking with butter or are dairy-free, use olive oil.
- Store any leftover green beans in an airtight container. Reheat in the microwave.
Here's how to make it:
- Put the trimmed green beans into a skillet with about 1/4 to 1/3 cup water (depending on how big your skillet is). Cook, stirring occasionally, until the green beans are to your desired tenderness and water has cooked out. You can add more water, if needed.
- Add the butter and almonds. Season with salt and black pepper, to taste.
- Cook, stirring, until almonds toast in the butter and green beans are coated.
- Serve hot.
