Jammin' Jamaican Jerk Meatloaf Recipe: A Tasty Slice of the Caribbean Beef Dinner

Jamaican food is exciting and full of flavor. Most people usually think of jerk chicken at the thought of Jamaican food. That's pretty normal. Thinking meatloaf, on the other hand, sounds a bit off. But it shouldn't be! This flavorful jerk-seasoned meatloaf recipe is a welcome change from ordinary meatloaves. One bite and you may agree!

To make this Jamaican jerk meatloaf recipe you will need ground beef, onion, breadcrumbs, jerk seasoning, garlic powder, an egg, green onions, low-sodium soy sauce and Worcestershire sauce. The ingredients are gently mixed together and then packed into a loaf pan. Bake for about 30 minutes and get ready to head to the islands for dinner.

While every jerk seasoning has different ingredients and amounts of those ingredients, usually the main three players are scotch bonnet, allspice and thyme. Other spices can be cinnamon, cayenne, garlic, onion and other warm spices. Serve this tasty ground beef meatloaf with your favorite side dishes. We like mashed potatoes or macaroni and cheese, a fresh vegetable and Caribbean cornbread.

Recipe Notes

  • Different brands of jerk seasoning have different levels of heat. Taste your spice before adding it to the meatloaf. You may want to adjust the amount added.
  • We like fresh breadcrumbs for this recipe, but use dry breadcrumbs if that's what you have.
  • Drizzle the top with a little extra soy sauce before baking, if desired, for more color on the top.

Here's how to make it:

  1. Put all the ingredients into a mixing bowl.
  2. Mix well. Put into a loaf pan.
  3. Bake in a preheated 350-degree F oven for about 30 to 40 minutes, or until meat is cooked through. Remove and let the meatloaf rest about 5 minutes before slicing. Top with chopped green onions.
