Spanakopita is a flaky Greek pie that's made with spinach and feta cheese. The flavors are a classic combination. When I saw a recipe for spanakopita creamed spinach (I love creamed spinach!), it had to happen. Creamy spinach with garlic, onion, cream cheese and feta? How could it not be delicious?

To make this Greek-inspired creamed spinach you will need the following ingredients: olive oil, onion, garlic, frozen spinach, heavy whipping cream, cream cheese, feta cheese, fresh dill and a pinch of ground nutmeg. The gluten-free spinach cooks up in a skillet in about 10 minutes. Quick and easy!

This creamed spanakopita spinach recipe is a winning side dish for weeknight dinners or your holiday menus.

Recipe Notes

  • If you want to fancy it up a bit, pour it into a baking dish, top with some buttered panko or breadcrumbs and bake until lightly browned.
  • You could use fresh spinach for this recipe, if desired.
  • If you can't find fresh dill, use about 1 teaspoon of dried dill, or to taste.

Here's how to make it:

  1. Heat the olive oil in a skillet. Add the onion and cook until soft, about 5 minutes. Add the garlic and cook 30 seconds.
  2. Add the spinach, cream and cream cheese. Cook, stirring, about 5 minutes.
  3. Stir in the feta, dill and nutmeg.
