A cast iron skillet can work magic on a pork chop. This easy skillet pork chop recipe has just four ingredients and is on the table in less than 20 minutes. Serve with potatoesricevegetables or your favorite side dish.

Cuisine: American
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 10 minutes
Total Time: 15 minutes
Servings: 2

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 pork chops (about 1 1/2 inches thick)
  • 4 cloves garlic, smashed
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 sprigs fresh thyme

Here's how to make it:

  1. Heat the olive oil in a cast iron skillet over medium-high heat. Season the pork chops with salt and pepper. Put the chops into the hot pan and cook until golden brown on both sides, about 1 minute per side. Repeat that process, flipping every 1 minute, until the internal temperature reaches 135 degrees F, about 8 minutes.
  2. Add the garlic, butter and thyme and cook, stirring up all the brown bits and basting the pork, for about 1 minute. Let the pork chops rest a few minutes before serving.

Note: If you are cooking thinner pork chops, adjust the cooking time.
