This is really all you need. All the brining, buttermilk, eggs, etc is truly unnecessary. The proper amount of salt, black pepper, and garlic powder is all you need. Add a little cornstarch to the flour, and allow it to sit on the chicken awhile before frying. Crusty, crispy, and delicious EVERY time!

Awesome recipe!. I bet it's delicious. My handed down recipe is very similar. 1st Season your flour with garlic salt and what ever other spice's you prefer. Then coat your chicken breasts or dark meat pieces thoroughly in the flour. Then gently put the same chicken in buttermilk, then immediately put that chicken back in that flour. Let it rest for 10minutes then place in your fryer oil, about 10minutes or so on each side.
