The easy baked spaghetti casserole recipe has just five ingredients: spaghetti noodles, ground beef, onion, spaghetti sauce, grated mozzarella and grated Parmesan. The ground beef is cooked with the onion until browned (don't forget to season with salt and pepper!). Your favorite spaghetti sauce is stirred in along with the cooked noodles. The mixture is poured into a casserole dish and topped with the cheese. Bake the pasta casserole in the oven for about 30 minutes. Done.
Serve this easy Amish ground beef casserole recipe with a salad and a fresh vegetable. You could throw in some crusty bread or garlic bread, too. We always have bread with our pasta dishes!
Cuisine: American
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 30 to 35 minutes
Total Time: 35 to 40 minutes
Servings: 4
Ingredients
- 8 ounces spaghetti noodles or fettuccine, cooked according to package directions
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 onion, chopped
- 3 cups spaghetti sauce
- 1 cup grated cheese (mozzarella, cheddar or a combination)
- grated Parmesan cheese, for serving (optional)
Here's how to make it:
- Cook the ground beef and onion in a skillet until cooked through, about 5 to 6 minutes. Season with salt and pepper. (Try this recipe with ground turkey instead of ground beef.)
- Stir in the spaghetti sauce. (Use your favorite spaghetti sauce for this recipe. I'm sure the Amish made homemade tomato sauce for this recipe, but using jarred saves time.)
- Add the cooked pasta. Toss to combine.
- Pour the mixture into a large casserole dish. Sprinkle with the cheese. Bake in a preheated 350-degree F oven for about 25 to 30 minutes. Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge and reheat in the microwave.
