Is This Sunflower Seed Cookie Recipe Better Than Trader Joe's Soft-Baked Sunflower Butter Cookies? Cookies Desserts

On my last trip to Trader Joe's, I saw their new Soft-baked Sunflower Butter Cookies. Say, what? While I'm sure they are delicious, I have been making (and obsessed with) my sunflower seed cookie recipe for a long time now. And mine are rolled in sunflower seeds before baking. I'm calling a win here (or at least a tie).

These sunflower seed cookies are a great way to break out of the chocolate chip cookie rut. You may never look at cookies the same way. This is one easy dessert recipe you will turn to again and again! Sorry, Trader Joe's.

Cuisine: American
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 8 minutes
Total Time: 18 minutes

Servings: Makes about 2 dozen (depending on size)

Ingredients

Here's how to make it:

  1. Combine the flour, salt and baking soda.
  2. In another bowl, combine the butter, sunflower seed butter, brown sugar, milk, vanilla and egg. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients.
  3. Place round tablespoons full on cookie sheets. Use a fork to gently press to flatten.  Sprinkle with the sunflower seeds.
  4. Bake in a preheated 350-degree F oven for about 7 to 8 minutes or until they begin to turn light brown. Makes about 2 dozen cookies.
