Recipe Notes

  • Hams vary widely by brand on how much sodium they contain. For sodium content, check the label on your ham.
  • For a little spice, sprinkle with ground cayenne pepper.
  • Store any leftover ham in the fridge in an airtight container for up to five days.

Here's how to make it:

  1. Combine the soda and brown sugar. Stir until sugar has dissolved.
  2. Put the ham in a roasting pan. Pour the soda mixture over the ham.
  3. Cover the ham with aluminum foil. Bake the ham in a preheated 325-degree F oven for about 2 hours, basting every 30 minutes with the glaze. Remove the foil during the last 20 minutes of cooking.
