Who doesn't love a fish fry – or a fried fish dinner? Nothing fancy here, just a simple batter and a few minutes in hot oil. Serve with homemade tartar sauce, cole slaw and french fries.
You'll need:
- 1 pound fish fillets
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1/4 buttermilk or milk
- 1/2 cup flour, cornmeal or a combination of both
- 1 cup canola oil
Here’s how to make it:
- Combine the egg and milk in a bowl. Pour the flour onto a plate.
- Season the fish with salt and pepper. Dip the fillets into the egg mixture and then into the flour.
- Heat the oil in a skillet. Add the fish and cook over medium-high heat until cooked through and golden brown, about 6 minutes. Serve with tartar sauce.
