Blistered Shishito Peppers Recipe: Meet the Easiest Appetizer on the Planet Appetizers Vegetables Snacks

Shishito peppers are mild peppers from East Asia – and probably the simplest appetizer or snack you'll ever make. These peppers need nothing but a little salt for seasoning. It's said that about one out of 10 peppers will have a little heat. Of the numerous bags eaten at my house, I've only ran across two that were even mildly warm. Hands down, this is one of my favorite things to eat.

Cuisine: Asian
Prep Time: 0 minutes
Cook Time: 5 minutes
Total Time: 5 minutes

Ingredients

Here's how to make them:

  1. Heat a skillet (preferably a cast iron skillet) over very high heat with a few drops of olive oil.
  2. Add the Shishito peppers and cook, stirring occasionally, until blistered on all sides.
  3. Season with salt. Eat.

just made these the other night, exactly like this! So so good. Don't know if you've ever heard of McEvoy Ranch olive oil, but it's the best. Check them out, a small company in Petaluma CA

No, never heard of McEvoy. But will check it out. I went to Petaluma about a year and a half ago. Cute town! Stacey Roberts

I know, right? I was hooked on these for a few months and made them a couple times a week. My kids were starting to worry about me.
