Granita is an Italian semi-frozen flavored ice that originated in Sicily. The types of granita are endless. If you've never made granita, this watermelon granita recipe is the perfect place to start.

Watermelon is loaded with health benefits and can help keep you hydrated. The perfect snack for July 4th, right? (But you still need to drink plenty of water!)

Cuisine: Italian
Prep Time: 4 hours to freeze
Cook Time: 0 minutes

Total Time: 4 hours

Ingredients

  • 8 cups watermelon chunks, seeds removed
  • juice of 2 limes
  • 1/3 cup sugar

Here's how to make it:

  1. Blend all the ingredients in a blender until smooth. You'll have to do this in at least two batches.
  2. Pour mixture into a 13x9-inch baking pan. Freeze for at least 2 hours, then lightly scrape the top to remove the frozen layer. Leave it in the pan and freeze another 2 hours. Continue scraping until the whole pan has been shaved. Serve in a glass and garnish with a piece of watermelon or slice of lime.
