Cuisine: American
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 20 minutes
Total Time: 25 minutes
Servings: 2
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup uncooked quinoa, rinsed well
- 1 cup milk (or almond milk)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon honey (or to taste)
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon (or to taste)
Optional Garnishes
Here's how to make it:
- In a medium saucepot over medium-high heat, add the rinsed quinoa, milk, vanilla, honey and cinnamon. Stir to combine. Bring to a boil then cover, reduce heat and simmer until quinoa is done, about 15 minutes. (I used 2 percent milk but you can use your favorite milk, such as almond milk, etc.)
- Remove from heat and allow quinoa to sit until all liquid is absorbed and cereal is creamy, about 5 minutes. Taste to see if you'd like to add any more honey or cinnamon.
- Serve in individual bowls and garnish with toppings of choice, if desired. Store leftover cereal in an airtight container in the refrigerator and reheat in the microwave (add a splash of milk, if desired).
