Simple Crispy Baked Chicken Wings Recipe Is the Best Budget Dinner (3 Ingredients) Budget Recipes High Protein Recipes Chicken Recipes Dinner Low Sugar Recipes Low Carb Recipes Gluten-free
Food prices continue to rise, which is making it harder and harder to feed the family on a dime. With just three ingredients, this budget recipe is one the whole family will enjoy and is easy on the wallet. This simple crispy baked chicken wings recipe will have them running to the dinner table.
We all love those small appetizer chicken wings, but this chicken recipe uses whole chicken wings. The chicken wings are seasoned, then baked in the oven until golden and crispy. Here is your short budget-friendly shopping list for this baked chicken recipe: chicken wings (read about the health benefits of protein), cornstarch and seasoning of choice. Ranch is a good option that most people like. I chose to do half of my wings with dry ranch seasoning and the other half with a spicy Cajun seasoning. Use whatever your family enjoys.
Serve these crispy, juicy, oven-baked chicken wings as a budget high-protein dinner with your favorite side dishes. Don't forget to have a dip for those wings! I served mine with ranch, which complements most seasoning flavors, but you could also serve with a creamy Cajun dip, honey mustard or spicy mayo.
Cuisine: American
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 40 to 45 minutes
Total Time: 45 to 50 minutes
Servings: 4
Ingredients
- 2 pounds chicken wings
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 1 - 2 tablespoons dry spice blend of choice (I used ranch and Cajun seasoning)
Here's how to make it:
- Put the chicken wings onto a paper towel and pat dry. (This helps the chicken get extra crispy.)
- Put the chicken into a bowl. Toss with the cornstarch and seasoning. Season with salt and pepper, if desired. (For a gluten-free dinner, make sure your seasoning blend is gluten-free. Check the label.)
- Lay the chicken in a single layer on a baking sheet that's been sprayed with nonstick cooking spray. (I used olive oil cooking spray.) Mist the tops of the chicken, if desired, with more cooking spray.
- Bake in a preheated 400-degree F oven for 40 to 45 minutes, turning the chicken over halfway through, until cooked through and crispy. Chicken is cooked through at 165 degrees F internal temperature on a food thermometer. Serve hot.
- Store any leftover chicken in an airtight container in the fridge.
