Those of you who follow me on 30Seconds know I try to include healthy sources of protein in many of my recipes. Studies show that we lose muscle as we age, and consuming higher amounts of protein may help slow down that age-related muscle loss, along with the other health benefits of protein.
But finding sweet sources of protein isn't always easy. After all, there's not much healthy protein in your typical dessert topping. That's why I decided to make a sweet and creamy topping that's also a good source of protein. Enter this creamy lemon whipped ricotta recipe.
This five-minute gluten-free recipe is delicious and nutritious thanks to the ricotta cheese, which gets extra creamy after taking a spin in your blender. The other two ingredients – honey and a lemon – add a sweet and tangy flavor that is absolutely scrumptious (while offering the health benefits of lemon and the health benefits of honey).
This sweet and creamy lemon whipped ricotta recipe is incredibly easy to make. You just pop the ricotta, honey, and lemon juice and zest into a blender and whip until smooth. The leftover lemon zest is an optional topping that adds a nice finishing touch.
This low-sodium treat makes a nutritious snack that will satisfy your sweet tooth in mere minutes. You can serve it as a substitute for whipped cream or ice cream with any dessert, or on top of fresh fruit for a fun breakfast. It even works on top of vegetables: I served it as a dressing over roasted beets and we all licked the plate clean!
