Fish is an often overlooked protein for dinner. But why? Fish has many health benefits, is relatively inexpensive and is easy to cook. Plus it cooks fast!
If dry ranch salad dressing mix makes chicken taste so amazing (check out this ranch baked chicken recipe), I wondered how it would do with fish. The verdict? Delicious! This easy tilapia recipe has a simple coating of breadcrumbs and dry ranch dressing, then is quickly pan-fried in olive oil. The result is a flavorful, crispy piece of fish.
Here is your short shopping list for this crunchy, pan-fried fish dinner: panko or breadcrumbs, dry ranch seasoning, olive oil and tilapia fillets. If you're not a fan of tilapia, use your favorite fish like cod, haddock, halibut or even salmon.

- Add some crushed red pepper flakes or ground cayenne for a little spice.
- Don't crowd the pan when cooking the fish for best results.
- For a gluten-free dinner, use gluten-free breadcrumbs or gluten-free panko.
- If you don't have Italian-seasoned breadcrumbs, use plain and add some dried Italian seasonings.
Here's how to make it:
- Combine the breadcrumbs, ranch salad dressing mix and 3 tablespoons of olive oil in a small bowl. Mix well.
- Heat the remaining 1 tablespoon olive oil in a nonstick skillet.
