Delish Green Beans Recipe With Caramelized Shallots: A Simple Way to Elevate the Green Bean by Donna John

Do you walk through the produce section praying that someone finally invented a new vegetable? Yawn. While we wait for that to happen, finding new ways to cook vegetables can keep things interesting – and it doesn't have to be a complicated recipe or cooking process. The easy recipe elevates the humble green bean with just two ingredients.
Cuisine: American
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 15 minutes
Total Time: 20 minutes
Ingredients
- 1/2 pound green beans, ends trimmed
- 1 large shallot, sliced
- olive oil
Here's how to make it:
- Put the green beans into a sauté pan with about 1/2 cup of water. Cook over medium-high heat until beans are tender and water has evaporated. You may have to add more water during the cooking process, but you want it to cook out, so don't add too much.
- When green beans are tender and water has evaporated, add the shallot. Drizzle with olive oil. Cook, stirring often, until shallots begin to brown. Season with salt and pepper.
