Sarcoidosis: How I've Learned to Live With the Inflammatory Disease Sarcoidosis

Hi, my name is Connie and I share sarcoidosis with lots of people. Some are famous and some are average like me. I’ve had this pesky bug half of my life. I am 69 years old.

I remember wanting to know how I got it. Did I catch it somehow? No one could tell me more than “it could be environmental.” Well, what could I do about that? I’ve had to embrace this and live healthy with it.

Sarcoidosis causes inflammation in the body and, in my case, because it is in my lungs, it causes excess mucus. Since I now know what it is, I have found a way to begin to help my body heal.

  • I have eliminated mucus- and inflammation-causing foods from my diet.
  • I get the recommended amount of sleep.

These small changes have started a healing process for me. Positivity is the key. Keep it moving. You are not your disease.
