Grandma's 5-Minute Watergate Salad Recipe: It's Not Easter Without It by Donna John

Grandma's 5-Minute Watergate Salad Recipe: It's Not Easter Without It

Need another dessert for your Easter menu? This creamy dessert recipe takes me back to my childhood. My grandma always called it Watergate Salad, though it’s often referred to as pistachio fluff or just pistachio salad. I just call it dessert perfection!

This easy Watergate Salad recipe has just five ingredients and it takes less than five minutes to prepare. It's made with instant pistachio pudding mix, crushed pineapple with the juice, non-dairy whipped topping, chopped pecans and mini marshmallows. The ingredients are dumped into a bowl, stirred together and refrigerated until ready to serve. Yep, it is the easiest dessert to make ever.

Serve a big bowl of this fluffy old-fashioned Watergate Salad at your next family get-together! It is a Easter tradition at my house and my mother-in-law's house.

Recipe Notes

  • For a colorful, festive look, use the different colored pastel marshmallows.
  • Store the salad in an airtight container in the fridge.
  • Do not drain the crushed pineapple. The juice is needed to create the right consistency.
  • Instead of pecans, you could use chopped pistachios.

Here’s how to make it:

  1. Combine all ingredients in a bowl.
  2. Mix well. Store in the fridge until ready to serve.
