Today Is the Day I Get to Wake Up & Live Again: Reflections After Losing My Mom to Cancer Fatherhood

Today is the day...

Today is the first day I have lived longer than my mother.

Today is the day I will see a new chapter of life that she was never able to lay eyes on.

Today is the day I will feel what life is like one day further than she ever did.

Today in the day I will look back in fondness of her memories, listen to her favorite songs and smile.

Today is the day I woke up my daughters with the rising sun and again saw so much of my mother in both of them, my son as well especially in his light heart.

Today is the day I express extreme gratitude for being alive and healthy.

Today is the day the I will look around, absorb life and continue to cherish it for my mom.

Even though gone she has opened up my eyes to how beautiful and joyous life can be again.

I will continue to live life for her, love the grandchildren that she never met, hug the wife she never knew, laugh at life and cease the day every day.

Today is my reminder to continue to appreciate life, every moment and every interaction.

Life is just too short for too many.

I promise I will not take this next chapter of life for granted, you never would have.

Cancer may have defeated you momentarily, but it will never take you away.

This is incredibly beautiful, Michael Kennedy . I am so sorry for the loss of your mother at much too young an age. Please hug your kids for me and know that I'm thinking of you and sending so much positive energy your way. You're a great dad (and wonderful son). Thank you so much for sharing this powerful reflection with us. I know many will relate. xoxo
