As the year draws to a close, it’s natural to reflect on where you’ve been and look to what’s to come. Are you looking for a job change in 2021? Chery Hyatt, executive search consulting expert at Hyatt-Fennell Executive Search, says to be strategic in your planning. Here are some resolutions that can help you get there:
- Resume refresh: Spend some time updating your resume so that it’s current and ready in the event you need it. This will not only render a good outcome, but the process of reviewing your professional career will be helpful as you consider what’s next.
- LinkedIn Tune-up: Take your updated resume and make sure that your LinkedIn profile is current. Be sure you have a professional photo. Ask a few associates if they’d be willing to write recommendations for you on LinkedIn. Don’t forget to include any certificates you have or trade associations you belong to.
- Commit to Network: Make a goal to schedule at least two networking lunches a month. They should be with a mix of new and old connections and include individuals within and outside of your industry.
- Don’t check out: When you are planning a job change, the trend is to be less engaged in your current position. That would be a mistake. Your future job prospects depend on your current job performance.
