"Go Read" by Trevor Romain: This Alphabet Book Is a Must-Have for Aspiring Readers by Renee

Go Read, written and illustrated by Trevor Romain, is not your typical alphabet book and is perfect for all aspiring readers! This book is uniquely written as an autobiography of the book itself, and is ideal for early emergent readers who are just beginning to understand the concepts of print and books.
When I first opened the book, I was surprised and even giggled. I appreciated the book introducing itself and assuring me that it did not need batteries to work. (Whew!) The picture book smoothly transitions to sharing all about its “roommates” – also known as the letters of the alphabet. Each letter is featured in upper and lowercase form with a unique illustration. Each page also includes a sentence using a "same letter pattern" (alliteration) giving the reader several opportunities to see the letter in print, but also to hear the sound of the letter several times.
As an adult and teacher, I thoroughly enjoyed this book. "Go Read" would be a great addition to any library. Its distinct style, illustrations and silly sentences make this book memorable and is sure to be a favorite.
