Coconut Oil: Go Ahead, Slather It On Your Skin, Unless You Have... Skin Care

Coconut oil has pretty much everything going for it. Organic coconut oil has a long shelf life, melts easily in your hands and smells like heaven on vacation. It's also great for your skin.

What it might not be great for? Your face. If you have oily, acne-prone skin then chances are, coconut oil is not your best pick for your complexion. Better to use a non-comedogenic oil to moisturize your face, experts say, such as argan, jojoba or primrose oil. But don't let that stop you from taking advantage of all coconut oil has to offer!

  • Coconut oil is great right out of the shower on wet skin or after a day at the beach.
  • Try smoothing it through your hair to moisturize fried strands. It's got a high saturated fat content which locks in moisture and nourishes all over.
  • Coconut oil also contains vitamin E and certain medium-chain fatty acids/triglycerides (MCTs) that are known to have antibacterial properties.
  • To top it all off, it's not expensive, like less than $10 for a big tub.

So slather away!

YES! Sadly coconut oil is not my friend on my face but I love the other alternatives that you mentioned! I do like to use CO in a lot of my "recipes" for things like hand soap and chapstick!
