Credit to Dana Oliver at the Huffington Post who, in HuffPo's Beauty Glossary series, wrote: "What the heck is micellar water and should you use it?" Turns out, even though micellar water isn't in the dictionary, or Wikipedia, it's still definitely a thing.
- So what is it? Basically, micellar water is a gentle cleansing solution made of water and micelles, which are cleansing molecules.
- So why use it? Convenience, for starters, because micellar water allows you to effectively clean and moisturize your face without water, making it a great travel (or camping) companion. Also, it's very gentle and great for sensitive skin, even around the eyes, and actually works as a makeup remover. Lastly, it works on hair, too!
Here are a couple I like:
Simple Micellar Cleansing Water: An Allure magazine "Best of Beauty" winner, use a healthy squirt with a cotton ball or pad and clean your face thoroughly.
Pantene Pro-V Blends Micellar Shampoo and Conditioner: Gentle on hair (and color) and packed with pro-vitamin B5 and antioxidants, this hair-care duo might become your new daily regimen.
