Spring Skin Care Is in the Air: How to "Unwinterize" Your Dry Winter Skin Skin Care Promoted

A lot of people are prepared to deal with the dry skin winter brings, but many don’t realize they need to “unwinterize” their skin as well. With a seasonal switch right around the corner, an esthetician from one of Chicagoland’s Massage Envy shared these tips to help you unwinterize and welcome spring:

  • Put down the harsh exfoliate: Many people think scrubbing away the winter dryness works, but it’s really doing more harm than good. Instead, reach for a mild exfoliate to avoid red and irritated skin. Products containing salicylic acid, lactic acid and glycolic acid will help dissolve those dead skin cells.
  • Ditch heavy oily lotions: Start using a lightweight oil-free moisturizer to avoid clogged pores. Moisturizers with plant oils, mineral oils, shea butter and cocoa butter are best.
  • Don’t forget SPF. This really applies to all seasons, but it’s especially important as everyone starts to head back outdoors. Wear your sunblock!
  • Face lotion isn’t just for women. Men’s skin needs love, too, especially with the toll shaving can take on one’s face. Invest in a good face moisturizer for men.
