Expecting a Second Baby? A Trip to the Toy Store May Help Prepare the First Child; Here's Why! Second Baby

Although my toddler proudly states that he is going to be a big brother, I wanted to give him a better idea of what this new role actually means. I decided to take him on a shopping trip to purchase a baby doll. He has practiced:

• singing to her
• rocking her
• feeding her
• changing her
• comforting her

I am amazed at the interest and compassion he has shown, and feel that it will better prepare him for the inevitable change that a new baby will bring.
