Summer has arrived, which means I'm on the lookout for fawns in the yard. So far this year, we have four little deer scampering around the property. So adorable! Deer are interesting animals! Did you know that there are about 30 million white-tailed deer in the U.S.? One of the most famous deer, Bambi, was a white-tailed deer. Deer are most active in the early morning hours and around dusk, though we see them all day during certain times of the year at my house. A young deer is called a fawn, an adult male deer is a buck and a female deer is a doe. Deer are born with spots, but they fade as they grow.
