I was in Toys R Us with my 10-year-old son who had Christmas money to spend. Going there was just one of the many things on my holiday to-do list. Harried, I looked at my watch and then at my son, who was playing with all the toys. I was just about to hurry him when I realized that being in Toys R Us for him is like being in Nordstrom for me.
So long, Ms. Grinch! For the next 20 minutes, I watched Lucas in his glory, and reveled in my mommyhood. How easy it is to forget the reasons why we wanted to be mothers in the first place. I’ll remind you, if you remind me!
