"Smart Bites for Baby" by Mika Shino has 300 recipes for babies and toddlers, and meals for the family. After her son was diagnosed with a debilitating liver disease, Shino began to cook using a Japanese technique that stimulates brain development using a variety of flavors, texture, colors and temperature.
Because babies understand the world through their senses, eating became an educational adventure and kick-started "Smart Bites for Baby," which looks at food as a developmental tool.
