Letting kids know when they’ve done something wrong is important – we need to keep them from doing things they shouldn’t or that may be harmful. But sometimes we point out the negatives without even realizing it. You can make a powerful impact by also letting your child know when he has done something good!

The next time you see him taking out the garbage without being asked or helping a younger sibling while you’re busy preparing dinner, “Catch Him in the Act” and give some positive praise right then! Or when a little one picks up his toys without you asking, “Catch Him in the Act” and let him know what a great job he did.

Only do this when it’s warranted, but when you look for the good, you see a lot of great things!
