How to Slip-proof an Area Rug Without Spending a Lot of Money! Home DIY

Area rugs are lovely, but can be slippery if left on their own. Here's an economical way to slip-proof an area rug.

  • To give an area rug some traction, flip it over and apply lines of acrylic-latex caulk every 6 inches.
  • Once dry, you can safely put down your rug because the rubbery strips will hold it in place.

This is quick, easy and cost-effective. You can then re-use the leftover caulk for other rugs, or go ahead re-caulk your bath. Remember: re-use, re-purpose, re-decor!
