Educating children creates a vision of teachers and students working together in classrooms. But with an ever-increasingly diverse student population, the needs of students require additional specialists to support their functioning and performance. In order to support students, professionals called “Related Service Personnel” help children with and without disabilities benefit from their education. Related services can include, but are not limited to, the following specialists:

  • Speech-language pathology and audiology services
  • Psychological services
  • Physical and occupational therapy
  • Counseling services, including rehabilitation counseling
  • Orientation and mobility services
  • School health services and school nurse services
  • Social work services in schools

Bringing together the strength of a multidisciplinary team can guide all learners to be successful.
