Spring is a time of renewal and reflection. Why not start the seasoning by doing more crafts together as a family? Celebrate spring and Easter with your kids by making these cute-as-can-be chicks. Crafts sticks have never been so cute.

To make these easy craft sticks chicks need to raid your craft box and grab craft sticks, yellow and orange felt, white construction paper, markers, glue and scissors. Then set up the kids in a work area and watch the magic happen!

After your kids has completed their chicks, let them put on a puppet show. What a fun family activity and it will get their creativity flowing.

You'll need:

Here's how you make it:

  1. Lay out craft sticks side by side the size you want your chick.
  2. Cut a piece of the white construction paper just a little smaller than the chick will be (see image).
  3. Glue the craft sticks onto the paper.
  4. While the glue dries, cut wings, a beak (diamond shape folded in half) and top feathers out of the yellow felt. (You could also use construction paper for the chick's wings, beak, feathers and feet.)
  5. Cut the chick's feet out of the orange felt.
  6. Cut two small circles out of the white construction paper for the chick's eyes. Glue them on.
  7. Glue the wings, feathers and feet onto the back of the chick.
  8. Glue the beak under the eyes.
  9. Make a pupil inside the eyes with desired color marker.
