Being a stepmom is hard. But add in the fact that my stepson, Franyi, is 1,900 miles away, only speaks Spanish and is 10 years old going on 40, and you have a challenged situation. To ensure Franyi and I build a strong relationship and that he remains in constant contact with his dad, I bought him a tablet for Christmas and loaded it with WhatsApp.
What's WhatsApp? It's an app that facilitates text, voice notes and phone/video calls via wireless connections. This app has saved us hundreds of dollars in phone bills and allows us to talk with Franyi at length every night.
