Manage Kids' Screen Time Without the Fights (All It Takes is a Trip to the Party Store)! by Christine Jones

We came up with a fun way to manage our kids screen time: screen coins! I bought a bag of gold coins at the party store. We decided that each coin is worth 15 minutes of screen time. Based on the schedule for the day, how much reading for school they did the day before, and a general assessment of their behavior, I dole out “screen coins” to each kid each morning. They can determine how much time they spend on Minecraft, Scooby Doo or whatever app, movie or show they are into.

Tip: If they want more coins, they can ask to do extra chores.

It has empowered the kids – and eliminated the fights!
