Want Kids to Talk to You? Sit in Silence & See What Happens! by Shannon Guernsey Coulter

It can be very difficult to get more than one-word answers from kids when you try to ask them questions about their day, their feelings, etc. Instead of asking them question after question, try a new approach: sit in silence

Yes, just sit there in total quiet (you can even stare at them)! Chances are, they will perk up and begin sharing things about their day with you, on their own (sometimes merely in an attempt to break the "awkward" silence)! Give it a try and see how it works for your family!
