Science Activities: Here's a Fun Way to Introduce Your Kids to the Stars (& Not Hollywood) by Dr. Jamie Krenn
Activities

Every kid sees the sky and wonders what is above our atmosphere. As adults, we learned that stars light our nighttime sky. But did you know there are different types of stars? There are red giants, white dwarfs and theoretical blue dwarfs.
- Red giants: A red giant star is a dying star in the last stages of stellar evolution.
- White dwarfs: A white dwarf is the last observable stage of evolution for smaller stars.
- Blue dwarfs: A hypothetical star that is created from a red dwarf that has exhausted most of its hydrogen fuel supply. Currently, blue dwarfs exist only in theory because our universe it too young for them to develop.
With this information and some chalk, find a flat surface and introduce your kids to the stars. Connect the stars to make constellations!
