Want to Improve Your Baby's Speech Development? Play Music!

Keep singing those lullabies! Why? Because music is beneficial to improving your babies speech processing. The University of Washington Institute of Learning and Brain Sciences found that babies exposed to music had stronger neural responses to music and speech patterns. Researchers stated that the exposure to rhythmic patterns in music could improve the ability to detect and make predictions about the rhythmic patterns in speech. Exposing babies early to musical experiences can have an overall effect on cognitive skills.

  • Incorporate music into your everyday activities. Make up songs about daily routines.
  • Play calm, classical music at bedtime to help soothe them to sleep. It works like a charm.
  • Turn on some tunes and dance with your baby! Rhythm and fun for everyone!
